PROJECT: Mountain Dew x GIRL Skateboards Capsule Collection

OBJECTIVE: Collaboratively develop and launch a distinctive capsule collection, merging the energy of Mountain Dew with the skateboarding essence of GIRL Skateboards, artist Kevin Lyons, and professional skateboarder Sean Malto.

BACKGROUND: Aiming to invigorate the market and carve a niche within the skateboarding community, Mountain Dew envisioned a signature capsule collection. This dream was to be realized with the collaborative spirit of GIRL Skateboards, renowned artist Kevin Lyons, and skateboarder Sean Malto, facilitated by Magna Opera's expertise.

STRATEGY:

  • Product Design & Development: Meticulously crafted a 4-piece capsule encompassing a Pro Model skateboard, tee, camp hat, and wallet, reflecting the collective ethos of the brands and personalities involved.

  • Wholesale Sales & Distribution: Strategized the product distribution, ensuring its availability across select skate shops and renowned retailers nationwide. Amplified the capsule's reach through GIRL’s extensive sales network, making it available on leading platforms like The Berrics.com.

CREATIVE:

  • Produced dynamic media support, encompassing video assets and online banners, accentuating the collection's release and drawing the target audience's attention.

  • Orchestrated influential site takeovers on TheBerrics.com and Green-Label.com, coupled with a strategic media placement on the Complex Media Network, driving targeted awareness.

  • Leveraged the collaboration skateboard's integration into Mountain Dew’s global 'Do the Dew' Commercial, starring Sean Malto, further boosting the capsule's visibility.

OUTCOME:
The crescendo of this collaboration was witnessed in Brooklyn, in line with Dew Tour. Magna Opera, in partnership with GIRL Skateboards' marketing team, transformed an art gallery in Williamsburg into a buzzing epicenter of skateboarding enthusiasm. Attracting 500 of the industry's elite, including revered skaters, media, and fashion influencers, the event provided an immersive experience. Attendees mingled with the GIRL & Chocolate Skate Teams and engaged directly with the capsule collection, creating a lasting impression and fortifying the collaboration's impact.
